The “Porta Miñá” Exhibition Hall houses a permanent exhibition on Roman Lugo, located in the building that once housed the municipal abattoir, dating from 1886. The exhibition explains how the city of Lvcvs Avgusti took shape, tracing its evolution from its origins as a military camp, through its period of greatest splendour and fortification – including the construction of the city walls – to its eventual decline. Situated outside the city walls, near the gate in the city wall from which it takes its name, and right on the Primitive Way of St James, this hall houses a magnificent exhibition where visitors can take a historical journey through Roman Lugo in an educational and engaging way, through a combination of photographs, plans, reconstructions and numerous archaeological artefacts from excavations carried out in the city of Lugo over the last 30 years, This enables visitors to gain a comprehensive overview of the urban layout of the ancient city of Lvcvs Avgvsti, from its origins in the late 1st century BC to its decline in the late 5th century, as well as to learn about numerous aspects of the daily life of its inhabitants.
