Santiago Gate
A historic gate of Roman origin, renovated in 1759, it is notable for its coat of arms and the image of St James, and forms part of the Primitive Way.
Of Roman origin. In the Middle Ages, it was known as Porta do Posticu, Poxigo or Postigo. It was rebuilt in 1759 by Bishop Izquierdo, who placed his coat of arms and a niche containing an equestrian statue of St James inside it. Since this renovation, it has served as the gateway out of Santiago on the Primitive Way.
