The Garabolos Heights route takes us from the centre of Lugo to the highest point in the city’s urban area, from where we can enjoy sweeping views of the city centre, the Miño Valley and the surrounding countryside. ROUTE This route begins at the first of the modern gates in the city walls, which was also the last to be renovated (in the 1960s): the Puerta de San Fernando. From there, we’ll pass through all the neighbourhoods along Avenida da Coruña, one of the city’s most densely populated areas. On this initial stretch, we can admire the art of Primo de Banksy (at the Casa da Muller), Diego AS and Nesui (at the María Mariño Centre), Leandro Barea (at the Agro do Rolo) and Lidia Cao (on the large central reservation at number 228 on the avenue). The route also includes short cultural walks such as the ‘Palabras Galegas do Ano’ (on Rúa Menorca) and the ‘Cine’ (at the entrance to Parque da Milagrosa). Once we reach Plaza de la Medusa, we’ll enter the entirely natural part of our route, where we’ll wander through the rural streets of the neighbourhoods of Garabolos, Piringalla, Abella and Castiñeiro. A sightseeing circuit brimming with art, rural life and nature. Of particular note are the remains of the ancient Roman aqueduct, which largely coincide with the current layout of the water tanks in the Garabolos neighbourhood itself.
