The remains of the Roman baths in Lugo, declared a historic-artistic monument in 1931, are situated within the grounds of the Hotel Balneario, next to the River Miño, and are open to the public free of charge.
The most notable surviving part is the apodycterium, the room where bathers undressed. First, one sees a large hall with an opus signinum floor, made up of fragments of roof tiles and brick set in lime mortar.
At the far end, there are two arched doorways leading to two adjoining rooms, both vaulted and with slate-tiled floors. On the walls, eighteen niches with semicircular arches can be seen, which served as cupboards for storing clothes.
