House of Mosaics
A Roman domus featuring original mosaics that shows how the noble families of Lugo used to live.
The House of Mosaics offers a glimpse into what a stately home was like in ancient Lucus Augusti. This archaeological site preserves the remains of an elegant Roman domus discovered in the 19th century, which has now become one of the most fascinating places to learn about the city’s past.
The tour is notable for its original mosaics, which decorated the main rooms of the house, such as the reception rooms and the porticoed inner courtyard. The visit is rounded off with archaeological finds unearthed during the excavations and audiovisual displays that recreate what this residence was like over 1,600 years ago.
