Lugo Demo
Paseo do Rato Route
A walk around the outskirts of Lugo. There's no sign, but judging by the kilometer markers, we imagine it starts near Parque de los Laureles. We cross the park and exit under a bridge beneath the road next to the Rato River. We follow a grassy path with views of buildings, reaching a medieval-style bridge, "Ponte Vello da Chanca," which shares its route with the Camino de Santiago. We pass under an imposing railway bridge over 100 years old and skirt the Chanca River alongside the park of the same name. Gradually, we move away from the city along paths through trees, past various bridges, and across grassy areas. We come across a bar with a large terrace, perfect for a break, and continue along a completely flat path to Parque Don Rato. There, a sign indicates the route, but it's slightly shorter. The walk ends there, although it can be linked to other walks to circumnavigate the city.
