Plaza del Campo

A historic square of Roman origin, the heart of Lugo’s tapas scene and social life.
Praza do Campo is one of the most iconic squares in Lugo’s historic centre and a key hub of the city’s social life. Dating back to Roman times, this site served as a forum and market area, and continues to function as a meeting place to this day. The square is surrounded by traditional houses with arcades, which preserve the character of Galician civil architecture. In the centre stands a Baroque fountain crowned by the figure of Saint Vincent Ferrer, one of its most recognisable features. Today, Praza do Campo is one of Lugo’s main hubs for tapas, with numerous terraces and nearby streets such as Rúa Nova and Rúa Miño, which enhance its lively atmosphere within the historic centre.
