Plaza Maior

Praza Maior is the city’s main gathering place and one of the most iconic spots in Lugo’s historic centre. Surrounded by elegant buildings and tree-lined areas, it has been the hub of urban life for centuries.
On one side stands the Casa do Concello, an 18th-century Baroque building noted for its understated elegance. Its clock tower, added in the 19th century, is one of the square’s most recognisable features.
On the opposite side stands the Círculo de las Artes, with its striking green façade, one of the city’s cultural landmarks. From this vantage point, you can enjoy one of Lugo’s most iconic views, with the Roman Wall in the background and the sculpture dedicated to the city’s founders, Augustus and Paulus Fabius Maximus, completing the scene.
