The Lugo Public Library is one of the city’s main cultural centres and forms part of the network of public libraries in Galicia and the rest of Spain. Housed in a modern multi-storey building, it offers an extensive collection of documents and numerous spaces designed for reading, studying and research.
Its origins date back to the 19th century, with collections drawn from former monasteries and convents in the province. Over time, it has expanded its collections to become a leading library, with special sections dedicated to historical collections and valuable donated items.
Today, the library offers services for all ages, from children’s rooms to study and lending areas, as well as a varied cultural programme featuring workshops, reading clubs, exhibitions and educational activities throughout the year.
