The Paseo del Río Rato is one of Lugo’s most popular natural areas for enjoying sport and nature without leaving the city. Forming part of the Terras do Miño Biosphere Reserve, it offers a peaceful route surrounded by native vegetation.
The route follows the course of the river for around five kilometres, with a comfortable and practically flat path. It features footpaths and cycle lanes, allowing you to explore it on foot or by bike in a safe and accessible environment.
Along the way, you’ll pass through riverside woodlands, small meadows and traditional features such as restored mills and wooden footbridges. It also connects to points of interest such as the Terras do Miño Interpretation Centre and the A Chanca railway viaduct, as well as offering rest areas and leisure facilities.
