Lugo Town Hall

Lugo Town Hall, an 18th-century Baroque building in the Praza Maior and the administrative centre of Lugo.
Lugo Town Hall stands at the head of the Praza Maior and is one of the most iconic buildings in the historic centre. Built in the 18th century, it is one of the finest examples of Galician civil Baroque architecture. Its façade combines balance and ornamentation, featuring coats of arms, wrought-iron balconies and carefully crafted decorative plaques. On the ground floor, the portico with semicircular arches stands out, a characteristic feature of Galician main squares. The clock tower, added in the 19th century, has become one of the building’s most recognisable features and lends a sense of verticality to the whole structure. Today it remains the seat of the municipal government and the city’s administrative centre.
